Places to Stay

The area of Le Marche has many beautiful places to stay. We have selected a few of our favourites for you to consider when you would like to visit us to view the Estate Giacomo Leopardi.They are all within a reasonable distance of Montefiore and all within half an hour of the sea. Some are situated in the country and others are located in nearby historical towns.

Vicolo del Sole self catering apartments located in the historical town of Petritoli. This restored monastery has been divided into 3 apartments. A studio, a one bedroom and a two bedroom apartment are available for rent. Each apartment has its own outside space with a larger shared terrace, with a hot tub. La Campana is an Agriturismo and is set in the beautiful countryside of Montefiore dell’Aso. The accommodation dates back to the 17th and 18th century. There are 11 bedrooms with private bathrooms, swimming pool and tennis courts. Prices range from 54 – 80 euros per room including dinner. www.lacampana.it/
 
Villa Mancini is a lovely Bed and Breakfast located in the countryside of Monsampietro Morico; the house has four individually decorated bedrooms, each with an en- suite bathroom. This house has been renovated to a very high standard and the grounds include a lovely sun terrace and swimming pool. The owners Elke and Harald are always on hand to help with any queries. Villa Mancini is open between March and November and offers a minimum 2 night stay. Prices range from 100-120 Euros a night (including breakfast) www.villamancini.it/
 
Hotel Roma is situated in the heart of the historical centre of Petritoli. The main reception and restaurant is located just outside the village. There are 7 bedrooms, each with on-suite facilities and there is a communal terrace and kitchen area. The rooms are spacious and they can cater for single occupancy or up to 5 people sharing a room. tasselLe Marche has a wonderful choice of restaurants. Choose from a romantic seafood dinner on the coast, pizza’s or pasta, or a traditional Marchigiani menu where the food just keeps on coming!!
Here are a few of our favourites.
 
Mama Rosa’s Pizzeria is one of our family’s favourites. Situated in the valley floor of Ortezzano, this family run restaurant makes fantastic pizzas in a traditional wood burning pizza oven. In the summer they have a lovely outside candlelit garden with an open fire where the chef will cook your choice of meat. Try the nutella pizza for dessert…… its delicious! They open early too, about 6.30pm, perfect if you have young children. You will need to book, especially during the summer months to ensure a table. Closed lunchtimes and Wednesday evening. Caffe' Ristorante Cibo, Piazza Nardone, 1, San Benedetto Del Tronto. A fabulous place for morning coffee, bistro lunch or Champagne dinner. One of the best wine lists in the area and owned by famous restauranteur Michele Alesiani, who also has a restaurant on the Kings Road in London:Tel: 335 6115534
 
Il Granaio is situated in Montefalcone Appennino. It offers a wonderful experience of private dining. The dining room has a large open fire and a lovely snug area. Frangipane is in the beautiful town of Grottamare Alta. The French owner, Ana, offers the finest mix of Italian and French cuisine. The restaurant is small and romantic and provides the perfect setting for all occasions. To make a reservation please call Ana on (0039) 0735755805 or 3395788497. Closed on Monday.
 
Locanda Del Palio is a great restaurant in the beautiful town of Fermo. Open for lunch and dinner, the restaurant staff are very friendly and love nothing more than a table of smiling children. They always have a few specials to choose from, as well of their vast menu offering countless pasta and meat dishes. In the summer they have an outside dining area which is perfect for those warmer nights. (0039) 0734229221 Closed on Sunday.

Stella Marina is a fish restaurant located on the beach front in Grottamare. Open for lunch and dinner, they offer some of the finest fresh fish around. Dine on the lovely terrace overlooking the sea. Sun beds are also available for use throughout the day. If you love seafood, do try this one. Between €25-50 Euros a head, but lots of amazing dishes. Casa Del Mar is located just outside Pedaso in Marina di Campofilone on the beach front. This is one of the most stunning settings to dine in. Open for lunch and dinner this menu offers you a wide variety of fresh seafood. In the summer months on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night there is live music from 11pm onwards. Castello di Marte is another fabulous restaurant in this area. Located in the historical centre of Cossignano, this bar/restaurant offers you a good selection of traditional dishes. Open for lunch and dinner, you will never leave this restaurant hungry. At €25 Euros a head including house wine, you will have a meal to remember. You will need to make a reservation the day before. Osteria dell’Arancio, has a magical setting on the corner of a small piazza in Grottamare Alta.
This restaurant is an eclectic mix of rustic and elegant charm and has one of the finest wine cellars in the

Shopping
Designer shopping in Le Marche is a great pastime......... at amazing prices . There is an abundance of outlet shops to choose from. Le Marche is the most famous region in Italy for the manufacture of luxury leather products, shoes and handbags in particular. This is shoe heaven for women............... and men!

This new Prada outlet is opposite the Tods outlet and part of a new Outlet Centre,which has many other shops.

There are a number of golf courses in the area and are all easily accessible.

Skiing and Snowboarding
Sassotetto is the main resort for Le Marche skiing and snowboarding and is an ideal resort for beginners or those who want a few days skiing. The ski resort has 10 drag/chairlifts, 9 pistes plus off-piste action. There are a couple of restaurants, ski, snowboard and boot hire, and a ski school. 

Ussita is a compact winter sports centre which lies at the heart of the Monti Sibillini National park below the high slopes of Monte Bove. With 11 ski lifts/cable cars, 25kms of runs and a well appointed ski school, it is one of the best winter sports resorts in the central Apennines. Even in the summer the glorious countryside and little historic treasures make this a delightful spot for lovers of wide open spaces.

Water sports - Sailing/Wind Surfing/Canoeing/Diving/Fishing
Within easy reach of Montefiore dell’Aso are the yacht club in Porto San Giorgio, windsurfing at Civitanova Marche, Porto San Elpidio and Cupra Marittima. Sailing at Civitanova, canoeing at Lake Fiastra and PADI diving at Numana, where you can obtain your PADI certificate on diving courses there or bring your PADI certificate and go out for dives amongst the Rocky outcrops in the Conero National Park.
 
There is fresh water fishing at lakes 10 minutes from the estate and sea fishing along the magnificent coast line.

Horse Racing
Visit Montegiorgio, where you can spend a day or night watching and betting on horse racing Italian style, trotter horses with traps. Also a great venue for dinner. www.sanpaolo.ippodromo.it/

Marche Wines and Wineries (Cantina)
Le Marche is a wonderful wine region and has really excelled over the last ten years with a move from quantity to quality, producing some excellent red and white wines. There are a number of cantinas in the area where you are able to sample the wonderful wines of the region in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
 
Concerts and opera tickets
During the months of July and August one can enjoy the open air opera season in Macerata, an experience not to be missed!

Antique Markets
Ascoli Piceno’s large monthly antique market sprawls through the main piazzas and spills into the surrounding streets. Held the third weekend of the month, excluding July and August. The seaside city of Fano has a market the first Sunday of the month and Civitanova Marche’s is the fourth Sunday of the month. Fermo holds their antique market weekly throughout the summer on Thursdays.
