Dine Drink Discover: June 2021

The temperature is rising slowly and steadily in Le Marche and I’m enjoying my late afternoon strolls along the beach before cooling off in the calm waters of the Adriatic. This is sometimes followed by a cycle ride along the coast…no I’m not training for a triathlon… absolutely not…but this year in particular I’m really appreciating what we have… right on our doorstep.

  1. Dine - Restaurant 10_83 (Moresco)

Restaurant 10_83 is situated in the pretty Piazza Castello in the beautiful medieval village of Moresco.

Why this name 10_83? This was the year Moresco was first registered, in parchment, in the region of Fermo. The Piazza is surrounded by frescoed loggias and a unique heptagonal tower, the perfect setting for a restaurant. I was really impressed with the eclectic design, a combination of reused materials recovered from old farmhouses and remnants from local renovations.

A fresh and lively place run by three young Italians, Claudio, Matilde and Emanuela, who are passionate about serving local produce and wines. They opened their doors a couple of weeks ago and last week I decided to venture over and see what all the locals were talking about and how they had succeeded in bringing this ancient hilltop village alive.

We were greeted with a warm welcome and a glass of prosecco.. always a great start to an evening. They offer a tasty tasting menu, or you can make your own selection. The prawns with avocado, lime and toasted almonds and the fava, menta ravioli were delicious.

This will definitely be my regular summer dining spot this year.

2. Drink - Peach Bellini

This is the quintessential drink of Venice and was invented at Harry’s bar around the mid 1930’s.

Sweet, ripe white peaches, at their peak in the summer months, are essential for this drink and luckily for us we are surrounded by fruit farms.

How to make Italy’s favourite bubbly cocktail –

  • 2 ripe peaches, peeled, halved and stoned.

  • A bottle of chilled prosecco

  • 2 chilled champagne glasses

Place the peaches in a blender and puree until totally smooth.  This can be done in advance and kept in the fridge.  Spoon half the mixture into the chilled glasses and slowly top up with the prosecco, stirring as you pour.  You should ideally have one third peach puree to two thirds prosecco… serve immediately.

I enjoyed an evening with this delicious drink and a few friends a couple of years ago on their peach farm… because of the fruity taste we forgot we were drinking alcohol and enjoyed rather more glasses than we had planned!

3. Discover – Spiritual Massages

“Experience a conscious touch on your skin in connection to your own personality.”

Michiel, originally from Holland, has lived in Italy for 12 years and is now based in Montefiore ‘dell Aso. His warm eyes, beautiful smile and gentle spirit immediately relax you, and with the stunning surrounding views you are instantly transported to another world. This is a massage like no other and difficult to explain as I’m sure everyone has their own individual experience, but for me it was the best massage I’ve ever had. I floated home in an aura of colours and calmness.

You can visit Michiel at his home or he will happily come to yours.
