Le Marche seems to have it all. The sea, the mountains, incredible food and wine, and very friendly people. It looks like it’s more well known neighbors but without the price tag and malaise from over tourism.
If you had asked me several years ago if I thought this owning of a house in Italy would have happened, I would have said no. So many unknowns, so many variables and we felt so far away. I would always look at Italian properties online but thought it was only a pipe dream. Enter Appassionata, they have done all the hard work for you. They know the area, the homes, and how to redesign an older home to show off its glory.
The properties are so beautifully and thoughtfully and warmly designed. Not to sound cliché, but they feel like “home”. There are so many wonderful details, from the artwork to the ironwork to the tile to the design. They are modernized but not overly so as to not fit into their surroundings.
Our guests have loved it! Some are coming back year after year. They say it is so beautiful and peaceful and wonderful to go on vacation and just relax in such magnificent surroundings. They can’t believe they are not in Tuscany (most American’s only know Tuscany) and are in awe of the food quality and low prices. Anything extra that you would like to add? We had spent 6 summers on the Tuscan coast and at first were always comparing the two locations. Now, we only talk of Le Marche, how incredible it is, how much more we have to explore. The team at Appassionata really make showing up at your “home” and being on vacation a breeze. We are so thankful.

Why Appassionata over other companies? We liked the feel from the information on the website, the family nature of the business appealed and shone through. The price point was good and the annual calendar management seemed optimal, the system of allowing access to the other properties if not being used sets Appassionata apart from other companies. The option of village, small town or more country properties was attractive, and all properties were subtly different giving good choice.
The houses themselves are exquisite, beautifully finished and furnished. The property that we invested in, Il Riposo, is all those things but most importantly it works wonderfully as a place to live.
So, was it a good choice? I think that we can say it is one of the best choices we have ever made. The house is our second home now, we feel like locals in our borgo and are accepted as such ( in spite of our still pigeon Italian). Going to our favourite restaurant where the frizzante arrives without asking or being trusted to pay later at the local tennis bubble makes you feel at home.

“One Brit, one American living in California, we married in Venice in 2010, so had our own special love affair with Italy. We were scrolling the internet cluelessly musing about owning a property in Europe and came across the Appassionata website.
